Bring Traditional Arts Indiana’s Creative Aging Summit to Your Community
Would you like to recognize and support the creative practices of elders and to explore the ways that the folk arts can improve the quality of life for older adults?
Traditional Arts Indiana (TAI) hosts “Creative Aging Summits” in partnership with Indiana University, the Center for Rural Engagement, the Indiana Arts Commission, and local community-service or arts organizations around the state.
With our partners, TAI produces these informative, fun, and engaging programs. While TAI facilitates the programs and brings print resources for the participants, local partnering organizations work to promote and invite elders to the event. Participating elders come to these summits to share their creative practices in a “show-and-tell” format. Elder singers, quilters, poets, musicians, woodcarvers, storytellers, and others have come to these gatherings in the past. Following the show-and-tell portion of the gathering, TAI leads a discussion with the participants about how the area arts can be strengthened to improve the lives of older adults.
If you work with a community-service organization or arts institution, please feel free to contact Traditional Arts Indiana about how to bring this workshop to your community. Creative Aging Summits are offered free of charge to nonprofits and their partners.
