The Indiana Heritage Fellowship Award recognizes a traditional artist who has made outstanding contributions to their artistic tradition and to their community. The award honors an individual’s long-term achievement within an art form that is rooted in community life in Indiana.
Traditional Arts Indiana and the Indiana State Fair wish to recognize individuals for their mastery of a particular tradition and for their dedication to sharing their knowledge at the fair, year after year. These men and women give generously of themselves by exhibiting, demonstrating, or performing, at both the county and state fairs. They are well known by neighbors and friends in home communities for a particular skill and for their commitment to passing their excellence on to others.
The Rotating Exhibit Network (REN) program freely loans exhibitions to public libraries throughout Indiana. Each exhibit focuses on an Indiana tradition, and features engaging photographs and text that describe a creative tradition practiced in Indiana. Participating libraries often work with local traditional artists to host demonstrations, workshops, artist talks, and performances in conjunction with the exhibitions.
