Sandra Brothers moved frequently while her husband served in the military, picking up crafts and friends as she moved from post to post. When her family settled in Fort Wayne, she became a founding member of the Sisters of the Cloth Quilting Guild, an organization that helps preserve the art of quilting and promoting awareness of African American quilting and its history. Nominated by her “Sisters,” Sandra has devoted her live to promoting and educating other. For her quilt making is both a traditional art and a community-building project. Sandra has demonstrated quilting at the Smithsonian, and has served on the board of the Quilters Hall of Fame. In 2018, she was featured in the Traditional Arts Indiana exhibition Sisters of the Cloth: This is Our Story.
