2024-2025 Applications Now Open!

Applications for the Traditional Arts Indiana Apprenticeship Program and nominations for the Indiana Heritage Fellowship are now open. The deadline for both is December 2, 2024.
  • The Indiana Heritage Fellowship Award recognizes traditional artists who have made outstanding contributions to their artistic traditions. Modeled after the National Endowment for the Arts Heritage Fellowships, the award honors an individual’s lifetime achievement within an art form that is rooted in community life in Indiana.   • The Traditional Arts Indiana Apprenticeship Program supports the continuation of cultural practices throughout Indiana, enabling apprentices to learn essential knowledge and skills in traditional art forms from master artists. The apprenticeship program and the Indiana Heritage Fellowships are supported through funds from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Indiana Arts Commission.

Heritage Fellowship Award Ceremony: Traditional Arts Indiana will honor the 2023-2024 Indiana Heritage Fellowship Award winners on Friday, October 4th, at Maxwell Hall in Bloomington. The event will celebrate Stephen and Nancy Dickey, Helen Kiesel, Dick Lehmann, Larry Haycraft, and Kwan Y.
